Zonta Rockhampton 2023 YWPA Award presented to Renee

The Zonta Club Of Rockhampton presented it’s 2023 Young Women in Public Affairs Award and recognised all applicants at its International Women’s Day Breakfast on 8 March. The winner for 2023 is Renee McKeering, a boarding student at St Ursula’s College Yeppoon. Choosing one young woman for this award is always a challenge, as all the applicants’ contributions to community service are commendable.

Because Zonta International believes that young women are the key to women’s advancement in the field of public service, it offers the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award which recognizes young women who demonstrate leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes. The purpose of the award is to encourage all young women to continue their participation in public and political life.

Other applicants this year were Ava Tregea and Molly Cottam, students at the Rockhampton Grammar School, and Ebony Lye and Justine Villanueva who are students at Glenmore State High School. We thank them for participating and commend them for their volunteering work.
