A Successful 40th Anniversary High Tea for Zonta Rockhampton members and guests.

The Zonta Club of Rockhampton received its Charter on 05 August 1983 and in 2023, celebrated 40 years of service to the local community. Members of the Club and their guests gathered at Victoria’s Secret Garden function room on Musgrave Street on Saturday 28th October, to celebrate those 40 years. Our sincere thanks to Sue from Victoria’s Secret Garden who offered the premises free of charge for the event and also provided the wine and drinks and some raffle prizes for the function.

Area 2 Director Robyn Liddell drove from Gladstone to attend the function and with President Trish Collins cut the Anniversary Cake. The event was ably emceed by Zonta member Nyree Johnson. Music for the afternoon was live and presented by Michael Peters to add to the afternoon’s atmosphere. Attendees enjoyed a high tea of savories followed by sweets which were served at intervals during the afternoon. Since August 1983, thousands of dollars have been raised of which most has been returned to the local community by way of local projects with the rest being donated to the Zonta International Foundation Fund for Zonta International global projects. Thank you to Valda for her great effort in chairing the Committee for the event and to all members who contributed to the successful outcome.

The club began with a membership of 32 dedicated women, who were committed to “empowering women and girls worldwide through service and advocacy”. This year we welcomed 6 new members to the club. There are currently 22 members in the club and if you have an interest in joining Zonta and would like to join us in service, please contact us at zontarockhampton@gmail.com

Rockhampton Zontians are part of a worldwide organization and work with members around the world, who are committed to Building a Better World for Women and Girls.
