Zonta Encouragement Award

The Zonta Club of Cairns presents annual encouragement awards to female students pursuing university and vocational education to assist with educational costs. Applicants are required to submit an application addressing specific criteria, and undergo a selection process with interviews. Applications are open in Term 4 and need to be sent to zontacairns@gmail.com

The annual Encouragement Awards totaling $5000 are as follows:

(a) Two $2000 awards will be presented to a promising female Year 12 candidate intending to pursue tertiary education in the following year.

(b) one $1000 cash award will be presented to a promising female Year 12 candidate to pursue vocational training in skills/ trade in the following year.

Students taking a gap year are not eligible.

What's On

District 22 CONFERENCE 2023 -Update

The District 22 Conference 2023 is successfully concluded. From the warm welcome to Mackay by Mayor Williamson and Aunty Pat Corrie to the final business closure on Sunday 10 September, delegates and guests enjoyed the guest speakers, the several presentations by our education award winners, our Zonta International Representative Annika from Sweden and the Zonta spirit generated by many Zontians being and working together for the future of District 22. Congratulations to the newly elected Board Members and Nominating Committee, as well as to the many first-time Conference delegates who participated in the business sessions. Thanks also to the Zontians of Mackay who hosted the event and to the Organising Committee for their months of planning to deliver a happy and productive District Conference. The District Conference 2025 will be held in Mount Isa. In the meantime the 2024 Zonta International Convention in Brisbane will be the next major event to which we look forward.
