Zonta Club of Bowen Inc.

                                    


The Zonta Club of Bowen services the rural communities of Bowen and Collinsville on the northen coast of Queensland.  The Club was chartered in 1994 and is a not for profit service organisation, commited to advancing the status of women both internationally and within the community through a number of projects. In addition to supporting the programs of Zonta International, we provide service to our local community through:

Advocacy 

  • Zonta Says No Campign aims to bring awareness of the issues associated with domestic violence
  • Domestic Violence prevention Month of May Candle Lighting Ceremony
  • Fundraising and sponsorship towards the support of the Bowen Community Council and Neighbourhood Centre for the Emergency Crisis Housing Fund

Education

  • Tertiary Bursary Award is presented annually for a female student studying at a university
  • Sponsor of Bowen State High School Prix D’Honeur Award
  • Donation to the Bowen State High School Literacy Program

Women’s Heath

  • Provision of oncology bags for women undergoing pelvic cancer treatment
  • Presented a Heatlh Forum featuring Dr Rane on women’s pelvic health and conducted coummunity health checks

Community

  • Donated paintings to a new addtion at Murroona Gardens Aged Care facility
  • Gave Bowen Hospital Auxilary and The Neighbourhood Centre personal care packs
  • Hosting annual International Women’s Day Celebrations

Meetings and Contacts The Zonta Club of Bowen conducts regular monthly meetings on the second Thursday of the month, 6 pm start at the Castle Motor Inn, Don Street, Bowen.
